Decided to keep the seat belts installed so I could go back to having the seat easily if I needed or wanted to

Remove the bottom cushion and the seatback
Remove the push pins on the front of the pkg tray (one each side) and the larger ones below them.
With the package tray still in place, CAREFULLY cut the tray around the seat strikers so you can get to the bolts, remove the strikers and remove the bulge making it flat like the tray that came with the kit.
Reuse two of the bolts and install the crossbar
put push pins back in
put top delete section in
Put bottom section in
DONE

No pulling trim pieces no removing passenger seat etc etc.
To reinstall back seat, pull delete kit pieces out, remove the cross bar, reinstall strikers and put the seats back in.

Hmmm, seems like that defeats the purpose. Most of the weight is in the belts and their mechanisms. Might as well just leave the back stock seat.

To each his own. Glad it works for you.

Well lets see.....
Total weight of the seatbelts with mechanisms and seat strikers are 7.5 lbs. The lower buckles are 2 lbs total.
The weight of the seat and seatback are 49 lbs
The weight of the delete kit inserts are 8 lbs total.

So I removed 51 lbs of weight, and put back 8 lbs. for a loss of 43 lbs.
had I spent the hour to remove the 3 seatbelts and mechanisms Id have saved an additional 5 lbs.

Your right, leaving in that 5 lbs defeated the whole purpose, what was I thinking......

I was gonna do the same, leave the seat belts in, but I went ahead & removed everything while I was there.
Either way, on the weight difference, 5 lbs. won't make a difference. Just put in 1 less gallon of gas, LOL.

Maybe a silly question, but why use a delete kit?
Simply unbolt and remove the seat, and belts, be done.

because it looks like shit that way. The delete kits makes it more of a finished interior. anything you put in the trunk doesnt come sailing into the back seats.

I like it. If I didn't have my taxi, I'd do it.

Did you need a Chiropractor when you were finished? :)

I actually wrote a thread on the install awhile ago. And yes one of the things I mentioned is the contortions laying in the trunk. I actually removed it from my '09 SRT8 to put in my RE. The removal (of the bottom part) was worse than the whole install.

Thanks for the pics and install info.

I'm in pain just thinking about doing that. It reminds me of stuffing myself under a sink for a plumbing repair.

coolblue, How did you get the white/yellow warning sticker off of the center of the bottom piece?
I would like to remove it but am afraid of leaving pieces behind and then it would look worse.
Thank you,
Varooom

Actually that one practically fell off. If you hit it with a hair dryer or heat gun (Gently! on low heat) it should come right off. You may not even need it. The other two on the upright back portion were way trickier. I had to heat them them some then pull a little, then play some more then use a fresh new straight edge razor and slice them gently off the fibers. Then I blended the felt like material left behind with a small nylon brush. If you look close you can still see slight circles where the medallions used to be but I don't care I think it looks way better imho.
I removed the ones on my visors too. But that was waaay crazier and more work and involved. (I posted all this back-aways but can't remember when or post names).
DISCLAIMER: These are new cars, I modify all my stuff to suit my tastes no matter what. I take 'risks' that others might not like to do because you can damage something or ruin the finish.
