My Redeye was making a clicking noise upon hard acceleration and deceleration similar to yours.
I found the nut was loose on the front swaybar end link at the strut on the drivers side.
It was loose about 3 full turns of the wrench.

Good job finding that one!

Whoa. Not good. Thanks Mike. You got any pictures of where exactly you’re talking about?

No pics, but look at the nut that holds swaybar end link to the strut on the drivers side.
I checked the other 3 end link nuts and they were tight.

Mike, do you recall what your milage was when your issue started with the clicking noise? Also, had you done any work on the suspension or “touched” anything in that area in any way to where that could have caused it to become loose? I haven’t tinkered with anything in that area - hell, I haven’t even taken a wheel off yet, but anything is possible I suppose. I’m at about 3800 miles at the moment. I’ll be putting her on a lift tomorrow to check out the end links. I’ll post my findings soon after. Thanks again for the info.

It was a few months ago. Probably at 3K miles or so.
I never touched anything in that area.
I'm sure it's just an isolated incident.
You might as well check the rears as well.
I do have the shorter Bwoody rear end links installed.

I put it on a lift yesterday. All end links checked out. Everything was tight. I’m happy I checked nonetheless. Thanks for the info.

Occasionally under medium to heavy breaking, when I come to a stop I hear a noise from the front left that sounds like a mechanical component of some kind resetting or cycling, not a whine or a buzz but a clear two stage knock. As soon as the car settles is when it happens. If I brake nice and easy, nothing. I'm going to check the rotor ring nuts this weekend. The lugs and mounting surface are clean and tight, torqued correctly etc.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I just experienced this exact issue.

Mechanical clicking, under heavy brake load. Nothing under light braking.

Turned out to be the spring clips, that the H Bobbin sits in, in the front rotor hat:

The wing thingy broke free, from the rest of the spring clips and worked itself proud of the hat cutout. When the brakes were applied aggressively, the pads would interfere, with the clip.

I have new clips on order, and will be replacing all 20.

Not sure if this is your issue, but the way you describe it, it sounds similar to my failure.

No pix, yet. I'll post a thread, when I get the parts and do the work.

Bob

Thanks Bob. I look forward to the pics when you have them. I've yet to pull the wheel but will add it to my list of things to look at. It may be a failure but I think it's been doing it since I bought it. It's been a while.
