I'm thinking about putting headers on my 23 M6. Is it worth the money/performance gain? Who makes the best headers? What about exhaust? The car is too quiet and doesn't have the muscle car sound I like. I fully under that the modern engines with fuel injection will not sound like 60's muscle due to how the cam is ground. Still, a little more would be nice. I live in a small town, I was sitting at a stop light the other day and a grey Hellcat drove buy, it sounded incredibly good. Due to traffic/idiot drivers, stop light issues, I was unable to flag the driver down. I've got the stage kits done already. I've heard about engine light issues due to header??? Thanks.

American Racing or Kooks. Probably 25-30 hp.
Corsa Extreme is what u want for an exhaust...... That with headers and it will sound mean AF!

They need to be ceramic coated or wrapped if you drive it regularly for long periods especially in traffic. Also not really going to make more power unless you pulley down to make up for lost boost. Also need a retune for long tubes - exhaust delay is needed.

You are going to need to play with the mufflers. From nothing to whatever. Don’t mess with the rear resonators. OR get an entire new cat back system if you want radically different sound.

Headers are not worth it.

On a stock to mildly modified car they're not worth it.

On a Full bolt-on car or built engine etc they're definitely worth it.

You will lose boost but you will not lose power. Boost being a measure of restriction what you're doing is making the car more efficient so it'll make the same power with less boost. Or you can drop probably .1 on the pulley to get it back and gain a little more.

I went with Texas Speed headers and midpipes with a Solo Performance Cyclone catback. One of a handful on a V8 car and probably one of very few that think the EPA is a terrorist organization. It's downright violent on cold starts and can he heard a mile away at full throttle but I get compliments EVERY time I drive it and EVERY pass at the track because people LOVE it.

Your neighbors however may not. Mine are cool. 100% on board with hoodrat stuff.

Based on what? Neither is needed

The mid mufflers are what you need to play with. Search youtube for some videos. Vibrants seem to be popular and doing deletes will make it louder

Based on heat, which makes plastic brittle over time. The stock headers have heat shields, which keeps the heat in the headers. Stainless steel long tube headers radiate the heat. Also keeping the heat in the header improves exhaust exit velocity and scavenging

They both give off heat and long tubes cool very quickly. Engine masters proved there is nothing to gain by coatings and no added improvement. They showed a little cooler temps by wrapping them but still no gain in power. If you have stainless it is a waste of money. If you have steel the coating can save them from rust

More worried about heat fatigue on components than performance gains from insulation. Everything holding up well for you?

Here's a warm start on catless headers with mid muffler and resonator delete. I personally love it but can understand how it could be obnoxious to some. Video just doesn't do it justice. Sounds vicious in person.
