How difficult is it going from a HP tuners tune to a Diablo tune?

Can they use the same PCM and just write over the tune, or would it require a new PCM with a brand new tune?

Most (like me) want to go the opposite way. I used my buddy’s HPT to pull and read my DS based tune because you can see and do more with HPT so I’ve heard at least. Why you wanting to go the opposite way?

Most (like me) want to go the opposite way. I used my buddy’s HPT to pull and read my DS based tune because you can see and do more with HPT so I’ve heard at least. Why you wanting to go the opposite way?

I'm more comfortable using SCT and Diablo than HP Tuners. Nothing more. Perhaps one night I can hook up with a HP Tuners brother, get a quick schooling on it, then pay the $300 for the interface and cables.

I’d have to listen in on that conversation too as I’ve never personally used HPT either

I would be careful swapping between different tune platforms ,at my shop I have seen where people swapped tune platforms and because of files are left from the previous weird issues started to arise ,car would run great one moment then run like crap the next and after a lot of frustration the problem was the pcms had file left over in it that could not be erased we have since seen this issue 3 more times ,,now my understanding is that hptuner is not married to our pcm so changing to diablo may not be a problem but im not sure if that's true,i would get a replacement pcm that hasnt been tuned

How is an HPT superior? I'm all ears, especially for details, not generalities. More points of data per RPM/MAP/throttle curve?

I wouldn’t say it is superior but it’s user friendly for sure but both tuner set ups still give good results

HP doesn’t offer a handheld that you can load tunes, datalog, etc.

It all has to be done via laptop.

This is what Diablo has going for it.

HPT from what I've seen can sometimes get updates faster with new adjustments. Does anyone know if Diablo will read ethanol content and display it like HPT does? Imo, they are both good. The key is finding the tuner you like and they will likely decide on the tuning software.

That said I know there has been some that went from one to the other. Sorry I'm not much help, I'm still stock, lol.

It doesn't read ethanol content. I still am a huge advocate for knowing what is going into the tank prior to fill. Been doing it this way for a couple years now with pump e85.

You can use the same pcm you just need it to have a different unlock. I do the conversion set you up with a trinity and even make it so your current tuned file is the backup file. You would not have to start from scratch.

Doesn't a laptop offer a larger set of features to the user than a handheld? I wouldn't mind keeping a laptop in the car for that purpose. Kind of a set of electronic wrenches, so to speak.

I'd prefer to get as much info as possible. Read it before putting it in the tank and after. Something doesn't look right, just keep it in a flex tune, until you can make sure your E content is correct. I just prefer having more data than less. Although if things go well from my E85 source, it shouldn't be a problem for me.
