alright so trying to plan for a pole building to move all of my equipment (junk) into, I’m thinking 30x30 will do the trick with enough room for a small office (closet?). What’s the ceiling height you guys recommend for a full size lift? Thinking 14 but I don’t want it to stick out like a sore thumb. Could I get away with 12? Probably won’t be putting trucks up there. Post up pics of your pole building shops/man caves!

This is all dependent on the size of the lift, I would plan around that. This will determine the depth of the concrete pad that needs to be laid as well.

https://www.bestbuyautoequipment.com/2-Post-Lifts-s/285.htm pick a manufacturer, read the specs and then plan for the building.

It would also help you plan for electrical that needs to be run and everything else.

I have 12' ceilings in my garage that was designed for lifts.

I would recommend the tallest garage door that you can fit so that you can put different things inside.

Build the largest building that you can afford. They're never big enough in the end. My garage is 32x32 and it's too small.

12’ will get it done with some lifts built for that clearance but 14’ is ideal that’s what I will go with when I start my build. Obviously the 14’ cost a bit more To build.

That’s disheartening haha was hoping 30x30 would do it..

Clear span rafters to maximize height clearance.

I have 2 cars, a truck, shelves small atv, tool box, etc. I can't do anything in there unless I move stuff out.

Personally I would like a 60x40. Or a barndominium.

As for height, I went with15'. The door is 12'. It was more than needed for any car or pickup truck. However, when I got a small motor home that is 9' 6 " high, I had to change to a wall mounted door opener and the MH just does clear the trusses.

I have a wall mounted door opener in my home garage because I was going to get a max jax lift

Just got home. Here's what it looks like with cars. It's packed. I recommend more width, at the minimum.

Wife wanted to do the bardominium thing and have horses in at the ground level. I countered with fine, ok bardominium it is but with cars in ground level and we won’t call it garage-o-minium just keep barnominuim name. That was the end of that design idea.

If I could fit 2 cars in there with enough space for equipment and workbenches I’d be happy haha
