@HellcatFan added a tool section so I figured I'd drop in the info on the shop. I got a lot of this from people who knew a lot more than I did and it helped a ton. Latest is on the attic and about the only thing I didn't quite get right. Everything else has been awesome and building it was probably one of the best decisions I've made. Adding the bathroom added more money than I expected and I almost didn't do it as a result, but it's paid for itself 10x.

You know the funny this is last week YouTube started recommending me the whole shop build series. Then I saw last night you posted a new video to the series. YouTube must have known you were doing it 😊

I'll be honest, that YT algorithm is kinda spooky. Too smart for me sometimes.

I almost wondered if it new you went back and watched them and that triggered something to recommend to your viewers. Idk. Crazy.

Our Tennesse home is finally being built. Our attached garage is going to be 1250 sq ft. I have revisited your work shop series and found it to be very helpful. The lighting section was just what I needed to see. No doubt I was going in the wrong direction.

I did not see a video for heating/AC and dehumidifier. Can you please share what you did in this area. I did note you opted out of ceiling fans. Just curious why.

As always thanks.

Greg

I think I covered the HVAC solution in the first video. Originally it was going to be one of those through the wall types but my buddy who's been an HVAC tech for 30 years said to get a Mini Split which is what I did. It was a bit more expensive than a through the wall, but in the end worth it. As he described it, you can heat it with a match and cool it with an ice cube. It has worked VERY well. It's two parts, the unit you see in the shop on the wall, and a unit that's outside that has a fan and heat exchange (what I'll call it anyway) that measures about 3' x 3' in size.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a mini split now and was considering one for the new place. I presently have a 2.5 ton. I was wondering what size you have?

Again thx

Greg

I'm not sure, the place I got it from sized it for the shop. The manual says it's either a MSZ-FE18NA or MSZ-GE24NA but probably the smaller one (18,000 BTU?)

@HellcatFan added a tool section so I figured I'd drop in the info on the shop.
I nominate Vortecd as the first user to be inducted into the Tool Section.... oh wait, never mind :)

A/C unit sizes industry standards is 500 SF per ton. Mini split is the newest out but with a reverse cycle for heat. Gets damn cold in Clarksville. A freee standing dehumidifier with wheels works great. Lowes. Different sizes with holding tankes or you can pipie it thru the wall to rid the water.
