I really like the dual function of the Raptor Shift Light but am not interested in screwing with the wiring. I saw Speedys YT vid and am confident I can do it, but Ive seen easier solutions as well. Some use a clamp on pickup, like a timing light, and Holley makes a stand alone unit that just plugs into the obdII port. Neither if these have the dual function, just the upshift function. Is anyone aware of a Raptor type dual function light that has a simple wiring install? Thanks.

Maybe someone else with specific experience on a OBDII shift light can chime in, which I don't have, but I do have experience with the OBDII port and getting data off of it.

The refresh rate can tend to be a little bit slow to update. That makes me think that a shift light might not be well suited to the OBDII port. You might set a 6200 shift point and not see the light until 6500...

Maybe if that's the only data you're pulling it might be OK?

I have a Autometer tach with a shift light. Late model cars like ours require an additional adapter box wired to the coil packs for the tach and shift light to function accurately. Not a simple three wire connection like with older cars. 58EA4127-C20F-4646-8683-F6131E967562.jpeg

Thanks Marc, that’s a serious racing tach there. I don’t need anything so large and purpose built. The beauty of the Raptor is its 2 stage capability.

Yeah not many going this route but the point I wanted to make is I had to add an additional “DIS Tach Adapter” in order to make it work. This is required on 2015 and later vehicles like ours. I’m not familiar with the Raptor that you’re referring to but there are stand alone shift lights by Autometer and others. Before you purchase one you would be safe to check if it works with our DIS ignition. EAC489DE-EC39-4AD2-9174-DBF34BF8B509.jpeg
