I've has a 3.09 chunk in the corner of my garage I was going to put in my Hellcat for over a year. After much discussion with friends and and smart folks on this subject matter, it still sits in the corner. :)
After thinking about it. I realized that the car that runs closest times to mine just installed 3.09's .I will wait to see his results. May save me a disapointing purchase.
I really like the cars street manners with the 2.62 so I wasn't really looking forward to trying.

My Hellcat is quicker in the 1/8 and 1/4 with a higher mph than than the 3.09 cars I have run against that are running similar times to me.
even if I give up .01-.02 in the 60'.
the difference may show up more when the 2.62 car owner can't get a decent 60' with the car.
Same day, same tire I have seen them .1 slower 60' than mine mine. Those may see a gain with a 3.09;)
That is strange because the other Redeye with the 3.09 was getting 1.43 60s compared to my 1.46-1.47s and I was still quicker in the 1/4 but they were quicker in the 60 and 1/8???

.309 Redeye more pedal room down low under 70mph. The .262 really rips 60 and up.
This echoes my experience. My '16 HC pulled much harder from 60mph onward than my REWB with 3.09s. The car is gone now, but if I was going to keep it I planned a 2.62 swap.

Maybe my car was a Friday build, I dunno. But I was disappointed nonetheless.

That is strange because the other Redeye with the 3.09 was getting 1.43 60s compared to my 1.46-1.47s and I was still quicker in the 1/4 but they were quicker in the 60 and 1/8???
I haven't seen any besides me get 1.50' in a stock cat. Even the GoMango cat's best was 1.52 so that would make a .04 about difference in 60' compared to the 3.09 car.
So that is closer to what you saw.

All I know is stock same track same day I would bet on the 2.62 car....;):p
You Know how I feel about it.;)
This year with the improvements at the track the 3.09 cars may become more consistent:unsure:

As far as I know you can put just the diff center section in from the Demon/ Redeye without changing anything else.
The Demon Drive Shaft will fit between all of the 15 & up SRT's as long as they have an automatic trans and the Demon axles will fit also as the spline that goes into the diff is still the same just that they have 8 balls in the CV's instead of only 6.

So in short, all the parts will work with each other.

I'd love to see a 60-160 race or 1/2 miles runs between a 2.62 redeye and 3.09 redeye.

My 2.62 redeye was quicker in the 1/4 then two 3.09 Redeyes same day same track. The 3.09s seem to 60ft better and are quicker in the 1/8. The 2.62 seems to be quicker in the 1/4 and mph. At least from what I have seen.

All these numbers are from different tracks at different DAs so you can’t go by that. I ran with two stock 3.09 Redeyes all weekend long same track same DA and the 2.62 was quicker stock to stock vs the 3.09s.

Also there is not enough 2.62 geared redeyes racing to really know.

The way to truly know is to have a bunch of stock 2.62s vs stock 3.09s same day same track and have them go at it.

My honest opinion is when picking a gear just pick what you like because there is not enough of a difference.

That's good to know and is encouraging. My Redeye has the 2.62, mainly because I got a good deal on one they already had on the lot, well below msrp + power dollars... My car feels plenty fast to me but there are so many posts out there making me feel like I choose the slower car and missing out not having the 3.09's...
I was thinking the 2.62 may have the edge from a highway roll or half mile but not 1/4 mile.

I plan on staying stock for at least one more season as I am finally confident that I can get the car to hook now. It took me approximately 200 passes to get the feel in my right foot. My last day this season at the track I had a pass that I left light on because I spun the two passes before so I was thinking I was going to spin again and I still managed a 1.49 60ft with a 10.19. If I would have went for it it would have been my best pass ever. For comparison same day I did a 1.46 with 10.172. If I would have went full out I have no doubt that pass would have been better then 1.46 and 10.172. I really believe I have a hero run 9.99 in this redeye stock.

Also I way 300lbs so 2.62 is fast lol

One more thing to consider is @moparjim holds the stock hellcat record and his car is 2.62 so there is that.

That’s because it snowed where I am and my record was beaten because our tracks are closed. ;):p
