As Calif gets worse there are a lot of people that unfortunately are stuck there. Job, kids, family are keeping them from packing up. I’m from there and left 20 years ago when I was able to. A good example is my son. He has a job where he could go anywhere in the country. But… his wife has a working business that she has put years into. They have kids in school that would be uprooted with another five years to get past that. Mother in law that depends on their support and cant leave because her Kaiser insurance is no good outside of the state. I’ll bet there are a million examples of similar captivity that will change as time goes by and there won’t be anybody left there but the illegal’s and welfare recipients. I’ll be there in two weeks to run one of the only tracks left (can’t wait to pump that $7 a gallon diesel) and then again for Christmas. God help me 😳
I ran my 1989 Turbo TA at Sacramento in 1990 (I was born in CA and lived there until 2007). I ran a 12.9 at 109, on the factory tires, with nothing more than an open intake and exhaust, and race gas. It was the Hellcat of its day.
Will miss it for sure, been there many times with these cars and motocross in the early 80's........ I am in hopes of more race dates at Sonoma now, time will tell.

Sonoma Raceway is my home track although the drag racing management has changed a few years back, Georgia Seipel retired and Kyle Seipel took it over for about 3 years, he was doing a fabulous job but succumbed to cancer about 18 months ago. The last 2 years we have only got 5 weekend race days a year (Summit ET Bracket races) and the Wednesday night drag program was cut in half to 2 a month at best.
I am in hopes the only good out of Sacramento being no more that Sonoma steps up available race days.
Redding is run by the Trimp's and they have done a lot of improvements since they took over 2 years ago as Tony Trimp is married to one of Dave Smith's daughters who had owned Sacramento raceway.
