Not directed at you, but OK, so in the next few months they're going to design, test, send in for approval and build a heretofore nonexistent platform. I've been very consistently doubtful about the future of AI but, reading these posts from people that see something on the internet and believe it lock, stock and barrel and I'm increasingly trying to find that place that John Galt took all the smart people to.

Oh I'm not quite sure anybody harbors that belief about this latest post...But I will say this..if YOU are in any way doubtful about the role that AI is going to play in the future...I can tell you this...It's going to revolutionize the Auto industry...the music and entertainment business....as well as many more segments of our life..right now its still in its infancy stages...in ten more years or so...things will change..

Companies like Microsoft are already pulling money out of it as they realize how bad it is. It's a fad and most corporate boards are filled with idiot that know only what they read in press releases so they're all in on it, just like they were with Blockchain and other fads before it.

Right now it is a hot buzzword for people that don't know anything about it. As its inherent and several deficiencies become real problems it will be abandoned by everyone except the usual gang that thinks that the only reason it failed is because they haven't tried to fix it.

Companies have been dumping billions into AI and are only showing cost savings because they're laying people off, not costs saved by their AI. At some point you run out of people to lay off while at the same time pumping billions into AI trying to make it work. It's a bubble that's going to burst.

Don't get me wrong , I'm not any kind of fan of AI, but while realizing what it is and isn't, and also how the term has been perverted, is part of what we have to deal with and accept...

Yeah, and like many, I essentially make my living working on them, and I hate that fact.

If I could, I'd dump everyone if them in the ocean and make everyone go backwards to 1930 or so.

Let's not confuse AI with Machine Learning or Voice Recognition. It's like when you call a support line and the "AI" voice says "Tell me in a few words why you're calling". That's not AI and you can prove it by saying "Blah blah blah". The response will be "Hmm, I didn't quite get that". If it was truly AI it would say "You're just speaking gibberish". It doesn't actually understand what you're saying, it's just looking for programmed keywords.

50’s early 60’s would be good for me. A lot of ai seems to just be high speed web-crawlers, but it seems to be able to make assumptions.as well.

The reason why each day more and more people discover Co-pilot is that Microsoft is forcing it on people, it's now the first response in a big box at the top of the Bing search engine page. That's not the same as people flocking to it, any more than people are "discovering" Dodge electric cars. Although your capitalized ME did scare me and cause me to pee my pants a little.
