Smooth is fast and fast is smooth. Good write-up. Yes, the new one will exit out of a corner far faster than others if driven correct, some margin will exist to accelerate.

Every Hellcat owner who has a good driving buddy with a C7 understands. @TraxMoe can demonstrate that, no way to catch a well driven one. Unless he gets behind traffic. But, if your not so good then your C7 may not work well against a well driven Hellcat. Must know your weakness and strengths.

Damn need a lottery win, because I want my RE AND one of these!! Looking forward to hearing just what kind of a lap time they pulled or will be pulling over in Germany. Good thing they are not available for a while yet.
I heard unofficially someone clocked the testing models on the Nurburgring at 7:12, that’s with traffic and testing of course. I would think close the track, pro driver. It should do a 7 flat. Which is insanely impressive. Wonder if it can go sub 7’s, which is the world of purpose built race cars and 250k plus production cars.

hell there are plenty of 250k production cars that are well over 7:10 soooo….

I’m getting my 350R prepared for its arrival, can’t let her fall behind.

If true, sub 7 minutes is serious speed. Will watch for this. 7:12 on crowded track is stupid fast.

I’ll wait on the ZR1 after everyone is done with the Z06. 850hp mid engine twin turbos have a nice ring to it

Being a C5 owner for 23 yrs and now a C7 Z06 owner plus a GT350 and being a huge fan of the Corvette Racing program since its re-launch in 1996, there's a lot to unpack here. Lol

I'm still not all in on the styling of the C8, but I love the tech and finally achieving Zoras mid engine dream. It was well known that the C8 Z06 would take its que from the C8R , so here we are. Also knowing that the motor would be a flat plane crank and naturally aspirated I was intrigued at what numbers they would get. 670hp & 460tq@8600 out of a 5.5l V8. To compare, the 2016-2020 GT350 is 526hp &429tq@8200 RPM from a 5.2l V8.

I think ChargerChallenger said it best..."the GT350 is a dog" in terms of getting going. Clearly a drag strip car it is not. I've only tracked my GT350 twice. Once at Sebring in 2020 and at Spring Mountain this year. The other 350 owners and track instructors kept telling me..."stay above 4000rpms". It's the sweet spot to carry that speed/hp to counter lack of torque. They were correct. Lol

The C8 being automatic only is another thing obviously. Too bad they didn't offer a manual option for the C8Z, but I digress. I can't wait to see one in person and more importantly see one on a road course, maybe in my rear view mirror. 😁

I was thinking the same initially...but.....this V8 is actually more impressive from a design standpoint. No tricks or mirrors or crutches (ie turbos and superchargers). Also, I simply cant imagine 8600 RPM. The sound has got to be glorious...

Also, for me, dumping the Z06 and simply waiting for the ZR1 is a bit risky. I want the KING KONG last ICE Vette parked next to the KING KONG ICE Demon. Last/highest HP ICE will always be special/historic imo. The first hybrid Vette? Meh. And I know the word is twin-turbo, but the exotics are all going TT V6s with electric boost. Are you absolutely sure GM (who admits its all EV by 2034) is not going to go the same route for the ZR1?

Either way, I think I am safe since I am currently on a 2+ year waitlist (at MSRP) for the Z06. I'm sure we will know exactly what/if the ZR1 will be well before it's time to submit the order sheet for the Z06.

Some of the YouTube boys have said as low as 3,300 lb for the full load. I am sure that is with the ceramic brakes and all kinds of cf for extra $$$$$$.

Yeah i also imagine many people calling the cops if your ripping around a residential area anywhere above 7000 RPM. Be nice if your in the boonies. I just don’t want to be screaming around everywhere to have a little fun. The hellcat I can just short shift 3500rpm a few gears and get plenty of torque with the power and it makes great noises and supercharger whine at very low throttle input

At a road course and twistys the Z06 would be dope as hell. Near me it’s mostly just straight roads, pot holes and hills.. and a lot of houses and neighborhoods. Not much open space to play with those kind of Rpms in my immediate area

I hear ya. In my particular case, I have the Demon for what you mentioned (and it's hella fun). I think this add-on would be an incredibly different (and new for me) equally fun counterpart to the massive low-end grunt our Hellcat variants provide.
