They can, by checking accident and points on your license/ticket history. This is an invasion of privacy, and is done without the majority of the public even knowing it’s being done. Goes beyond driving habits, and insurers aren’t the only ones getting the data. It’s deceptive. Companies offer the single to plug in to log the phone formation, when you decline? It appears they get it anyway. And then some

To be clear, I’m not taking a side on this, it’s just everything we do is recorded somewhere and companies are constantly accessing that data, like in the examples I mentioned. I’m just not seeing why this is the hill that everyone wants to die on.

There's another possibility and it's coming from Tesla, which has stopped selling driver data because they're coming out with their own insurance service.
