When you hear a news reporter say about the Tesla Model 3, "It's what the Bargersville Police Department believes is the new future for all city and local law enforcement," that's a segment you pay attention to. Bargersville, Indiana — a town of about 9,000 people, 20 miles due south of Indianapolis, with 12 police officers — just added a Model 3 that was gutted and rebuilt to police spec to the fleet, replacing one of their Dodge Chargers. Officers only unveiled the electric sedan two days ago, and it sounds like the love affair did not take long to bloom.

Even though the Model 3 costs more than the Charger, the department said the EV will save taxpayers money. The Tesla runs $39,500, a police-issue Charger costs a police department $25,000 according to figures given to the Indianapolis Star. The Daily Journal said this Model 3 ran $41,945, the Charger $33,612. No matter the differential, the Model 3 is expected to be much cheaper to run. The Dodge apparently requires more than $8,000 in upkeep every year just for gas, oil, and insurance, the gas alone totaling $7,125. The department's figures show Tesla will need just $1,728 in electricity, and one officer said that even the replacement windshield wipers are less expensive on the Tesla than the Dodge. Over a six-year period, Bargersville PD expects to save at least $20,600, with the savings beginning in the third year.

The Model 3 brings stealth to crime-fighting, too. Bargersville PD public information officer Jeremy Roll explaining how police could "come upon something a little bit more discreetly" in the Tesla, a feature that will come in handy due to having "a lot of back alleys in the old town." Officer comfort gets a boost, too, since personnel can pre-heat the Tesla's cabin in the winter, something they can't do with their Chargers. On top of that, Police Chief Todd Bertram told CBS4, "With Tesla, the performance is better than the cars we are currently driving. It’s amazing, it’s smooth, it’s powerful, it handles great."

Bargersville PD wants to add four more Teslas to its fleet, and wants to use the money saved to hire more officers. The road to Robocop now runs through Bargersville.

I wonder if they’ll still be enamored in February. Electric car performance suffers in frigid temps.

It's like it was said in the movie 'No Country For Old Men' (Def one of my top fav's now) when Tommy Lee Jones asked (I think was an uncle or old family friend- can't think of that actors name, he's very good also) about a death in the family years and years earlier. Tommy Lee can see what's happening around him in the world but he just can't wrap his mind around it or keep up and doesn't know why, and the old guy he's talking to says "That's vanity....the world's not waiting on you". It's here my friends. Those cars are in there infancy and look at the performance.
Geez....I gotta switch out of dark mode and go back to the light!

Some choose to disregard the negatives so they can be “right” in their own mind. The technology isn’t there. Battery tech has stalled. The chemicals, mining of precious metals, and other no so great factors of the transition of the infrastructure are almost completely disregarded. This has to be a small town...

I referenced an article on this recently and they glossed over some of the numbers. Love this line.

"The Dodge apparently requires more than $8,000 in upkeep every year just for gas, oil, and insurance, the gas alone totaling $7,125."

Tesla's don't require insurance?

Perhaps they are on to something? Who knows? Despise the cheerleading that goes on with this agenda.

No Teslas dont require insurance... (or maybe insurance companies WON'T insure them?)

Not being up on the Tesla operation, I have to ask if the battery life (charge cycle) will allow operation the same as a Charger. The Charger just requires you to pull into the gas station - the Tesla....???
Anyone have experience in this direction?

So, hypothetically, a Tesla model 3 with some Evil Terrorists Who Stole One to Bomb Something is chasing you.

You just keep going until they run out of charge, yes?

Haha. Aren't normal cars also susceptible to EMP, though? The electronics aren't really shielded against it...

The more electronics the worse it is so if you have a older ICE all you do is disconnect the battery then put it back on. A electric car would be toast but it may be possible to still go with a older car. The less electronics the better obviously.

This is a pretty good description of what happens to vehicles during a EMP. Since the testing was done almost 20 years ago the amount of microprocessors in cars now would blow your mind and the electric cars well there all electronics so there not going anywhere. If you have a early 60s car your driving like nothing happened lol In 20 years if North America was ever hit by a EMP you would only see classic car owners driving around.....until they ran out of gas.

It’s truly amazing and interesting what is going on with the Electric agenda. The state and federal government agencies are so excited in converting to Electric cars and being praised for the so called savings long term to the tax Payers us. And yet they forget to mention how the average non government individual who owns these electric cars does not donate any money to the government’s tax infrastructure. Which in Essence equates to the actual savings to the tax payers is not so factual since their are loss tax collections from the gasoline state and federal tax. Summing it up the average citizen is being mislead by an agenda promoting tax relief which in the long run is a tax shortage,

The government will build a utopia. They just need 55 genders, no freedom of speech, one race, no religion, no guns and electric cars.

Some of these green technologies have merits, EVs, solar, etc. Where I shut down is when the artificial propping up of it economically and legislatively while simultaneously undermining what they don't like economically and legislatively. If it is so good why does it need to cheat, so to speak, to be successful? Social engineering at is best...our planet is going to die soon if we don't I guess? Sad that more people can't or choose not to think for themselves.
