Sadly this situation is not uncommon and has actually been occurring much more frequently on cars showing up here.
Long video but worth the watch.

It is sad, especially the increased frequency at which we are seeing this.

Micah should have read my post on here about that clip lol, it loses tension over time especially with e85, even if it’s not broken. My hose kept popping off. I posted the part number on here for the clip. You guys do great work, what a nightmare on that car

Just ran out to take a quick pic. Old is on the left, new is on the right (my spare one). See the difference in tension?

For me i think it’s due to the e85, but can’t be positive

I believe they are nylon which is very hygroscopic, absorbing not only water but also alcohol, fuel, etc. They can make them from better grades of nylon to minimize that, but it would cost another $0.0001. If nylon is in its natural color (off white, slightly yellow) it is mostly or all unmodified. Black nylon has at least some UV protection and might have more.

Ever notice that white cable ties dry out and fail much faster than black ones?

Another thing, typical nylons will be flexible and impact resistant when saturated with water (1-2%) but brittle when dry, which is how they get when near a heat source like an engine. The best example is it is like spaghetti, dry vs. cooked. Modifiers can maintain the flexibility and impact resistance, as well as stabilize the polymer for heat, UV and other enviros. Pretty much all the plastic guns these days are modern generations of nylon, and they do pretty well.

Back in the day when I worked for a gun co., we had an internal joke:

After the nuke war, all that will be left on the battlefield will be pistol grips, handguards and stocks! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Man, that surely wasn't done by a shop? Maybe the owner "tried" to work on it himself? If that's a professional place then yikes.

Definitely a shop, if it was the owner there would have been sledge hammer marks for clearance
