I have always had a problem with the QJ. Sometimes the connectors just don’t want to go together, apparently residual pressure in the lines from temp change. If I use the QJ on a cool day, disconnect and store the lines, then next time it is warm, there would be pressure in the lines. I damaged the seals by forcing them and had to replace 3 of the connectors.

I started unscrewing the connector to bleed off some fluid to prevent damaging the seals but that is messy and a PITA. Today I held the Down button while pushing the line connector onto the pump. It went right on!!! Apparently the line bleeds off the pressure into the pump as you snap the line on!

You guys who store your lines in a place with a stable temp may never have noticed this but my barn can see some pretty severe temp swings here in NH, even from a cool cloudy day to a hot sunny day.

An alternate way is after the lift has fully lowered, continue to hold the down button for a FULL 10 seconds or more.

I was having the same reconnecting issue and since I started doing that continued button press, I haven't had a single instance of not being able to connect them.

ALWAYS leave the bleeder unscrewed when using it up or down. Only close it when not in use. I almost contracted mine like a black hole

I always do that but that won't help when the lines develop pressure hanging on the wall. It is the change in temp and it occurs with the lines disconnected. Reconnecting is the prob.
