I saw this firsthand on Thursday when I was in California, the people I was with had a Chevy Volt, they tried to charge at a location that said 3 of 4 chargers were available, only 2 were "open" and one of those was completely dead, and the others one wasn't able to actually charge.
Same thing with the cars themselves. It's a real problem.

My coworker has a Hyundai GV60 EV SUV. It needed some simple recall performed, unrelated to the EV systems I believe, and no local dealerships could perform the work because they were not "EV Certified". Hyundai sent a flat bed to pick up his car and tow it 6 hours away to a dealer that was "certified". I think the recall took less than an hour to perform. They then trailered it back to him. Wow and no thanks.

On my way to Land Speed Trials, my wife had to stop at a rest area to get a consistent cell signal to do a zoom call. I walked the dog for the hour it took. When I went by the chargers, there was this couple trying to figure out how to charge their car. 45min later the dog and I walked by and the same couple were parked at a different charger, taking pics, and talking to someone on the phone.

I didn't need to stop for gas, but EV's needed to stop for electrons, and it was a major ordeal, and extremely slow. Anyone using an EV for anything beyond short local trips is a moron. Or maybe a useful idiot.

And there went every penny of profit Hyundai made on that SUV.

You wonder how many EV's get traded in the day after a long car trip illuminates fully the ownership experience.
I read somewhere that 20% of California EV owners went back to gasoline cars.

Why am I not surprised, these Dodge clowns can't even do simple repairs on my Durango & those have been around (in their current config) for 14 years !!

Maybe the labor is working on this first? :rolleyes: Charging stations won't matter if working or not if the power supply to them is problematic.....
