Looking at a 2015 SRT 392 6 spd. I took it for a test drive and it runs and drives great. It’s really clean too. I just can’t get over the mileage 125k. They want $19k. Car fax has consistent history until 85k. It changed hands a couple of times in the last 15k miles. Looks like it was between dealers. I know I could spend a little more and get something with lower miles, but I have 4 cars in the driveway right now so I don’t want to spend a fortune on another one. I just miss having some thing with a V8 and a stick. View attachment IMG_4454.jpeg

with that mileage, I'd think 15-16k would be more reasonable. but first, need to know if it really in a 392, do all the VIN's match, and why the hood and spoiler were replaced with more recent versions. taking advantage of damage to change the appearance? some other issue? just wanted to change the look? were other parts swapped? the after market fender flares and wheels are a nice touch, though.

It was in a minor accident and they decided to change the hood since there was some paint work being done.

I don’t have much info or pictures. Who ever did the repair did a great job. It’s spotless, but the mileage is tough. Even searching online it’s almost impossible to find any over 100k. So I know once I buy it I’m stuck with it until it dies since it won’t have much value down the road.

Then only buy it if you plan on keepin it for a REAL long time...

Fit on that hood & the RF fender are definitely 'off', guessing that's from the accident repair. LF looks askue as well but hard to tell in that pic.

At the very minimum I'd have a known good collision shop give it the once over + a solid mechanical inspection.

Price seems high to me given the age, miles (on a northern car), accident history and missing history for the last 40k miles !!
If it's being swapped around from dealer to dealer that means others have passed on it for quite some time & price should be low, low, low.

I'm not far from Derry, I can take a look tomorrow if you like, never hurts to get a second set of eyes on it.

I know nothing about 2015-2018, but I can spot repairs and funny things. The guys here can help you a lot.

The 392's seem highly desirable because it is the lower cost alternative to the HC, and the lower the price, the bigger the market. It sounds like this is a basement level car, whether or not it is a bargain is the gamble. Multiple ownership changes is never a good thing.

I would hope the 392 is good for 200kmi, the trans is hopefully good for that too, I expect a clutch might be needed.

If you are looking long term, and the car is basically straight and sound, then this might be good car for you. I would have a Dodge dealer inspect it, paying close attention to the engine, trans and suspension. It will likely need repairs/maintenance, lot of things are near the end of their life, but if you are willing to accept the cost and build it back into a great driver (given the caveats above), it might ok, it might be great, it's a gamble.

PM me if you would like me to go for a look.

Only issues I’ve seen with the 392 over the years is rocker arms failing and that’s only if overrevved beyond 6100rpm. For the most part, it’s a good engine especially if you don’t have the 8-4 cylinder deactivation (e.g. manual transmissions)

Wth that mileage the following come to mind:

-clutch
-spark plugs
-coolant flush
-rear differential
-brakes (rotors, pads, fluid)
-rear axle boots for leaks if lowered before
-driveshaft center carrier bearing
-tires, wheel balance
-alignment

MikeD1, that seems to be the going rate around here. Maybe slightly on the high side. I’m not bothered by body work, I plan on driving it here and there and keeping it down a while.
