I know nothing about police work, I would never want to be a cop, but I am thrilled some do because we need guys to go after the bad guys! I have never complained about the police budget, but I have issues with the school (which is about 80% of taxes) and occasionally the FD (we ave about one fire every 2 years).
Understanding this is a great thrill for the cop to maintain 130 for 8 min, he would have much more of a thrill taking the cop car to Loring for land speed trials, It is very clear that the cop created a much greater hazard to life and limb of innocent bystanders than the perp. He should be disciplined, and if he does not learn, he should be dismissed if it happens again.
Perhaps PD’s should create venues where officers can relieve their aggressions and thrill seeking so they can be more rational when engaging the public. Make them happy, and make us safe, and happy!
