The stock trans on my 2017 finally gave up the ghost. I bought the car with 9k miles and it has quite a few passes on it while stock, tuned on a 2.5 pulley and now it is on a 3.0 Whipple build.

I have Sipple unit on its way with a Demon converter but I am not sure if my trans tune needs to be modified for the new transmission and converter.

Does swapping the converter require re-tuning of the TCM or PCM or both?

Thanks!

Yes, a newTrans Tune will need to be calibrated for the new Trans and converter.

Are you getting your valve body back or a new one?

Sipple confirmed that a retune is required.

I am doing a core swap with him so it will be a completely different unit.

100% on needing new credits and a tune. Also, the TCM os MUST MATCH (be for) the PCM year/model of the car. Vin does not matter, but the vin will most likely be for a different vehicle when scanned. The vin on the TCM cannot be updated unless on the bench, same with changing to the correct OS. Just an FYI. Only way it can be written with your vin and the correct OS via micropod is if the TCM/valvebody is brand new, and hasn’t been written to before (not the case with a core swap)
