Did yours fail, or did it get damaged?

If it is a failure, it's the first I've heard of.

I'm guessing he wants something to help assist in the opening of the trunk lid. Mine is heavy as hell and needs a good helping hand to open, been a complaint of mine since I got it but never talked to the dealer about it. Maybe I will when it goes in in May for its bi-annual oil change.

@Bobo the trunk lid is heavy??? Better check your struts are sticking real bad?

not aware of any "heavy-duty" options for these - they work until they don't and they do not last forever has been my experience. I just replace with what Rock Auto carries and pick the best brand name even though they all are probably made in the same factory in the jungle, and I cover em up' with some nice, "blingy" covers from American Brothers and move on with life..

Hmmm...don't think I've opened my trunk more than twice a year...in fall to hook up the tender...and spring to disconnect it...I've never put anything in there

Sorry everyone, I got off work and went home to mow ( I mow 4 acres and it was my first mow of the season and took forever, it was so long) and clean up then hit the sack for 1:30 am rise and shine to do it all again today

None on my Dodge' struts have failed yet, but over the little fleet of vehicles I care for, I have seen several hood and trunk struts fail - not that uncommon in my world.

My 03 quad cab hood failed 10 years ago.
Keep it up with a 3/4 inch pipe

If you are looking for a stronger assist, get the #'s off the old one and I'll cross reference to a 20-25lbs stronger version, also should be able to provide a source to get them from. If yours is damaged or weak and you just want replacement, most auto stores can help with that.
