You need to check the date codes on your new tires before they get mounted ! Twice now I've had tire places try to sell me tires with date codes > 12 months apart & I refused to let them proceed until all 4 had codes within a few weeks of each other. Tire places hate me (TireRack too), but tough shit !!

It was Tire Rack that sent me two old ones, then told me that they don't age at all (if stored properly) for up to four years. And that up to 10 years old total was completely acceptable.

When I asked the lady if she'd be comfortable with going 160 on eight year old tires with her family in the car, she refused to answer.

Found that Simple Tire is a great place for getting tires that are fresh...if you ask for it.
