You think the engineers left a simple amount of power on the table with the air box design?
I agree with CPO. A corporate exec will let you die in a fireball when rear-ended if they could save $2. I give the legendary SRT team great respect, but they had to live within corporate bounds.

Those were the days when you could make that choice when buying a car. These things are over a half century later! I didn't think you were a senior citizen until now!!! :ROFLMAO: You OLD FART!!!!! ;)

Hey 2nd, I have an idea. Not necessarily a good one, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Instead of chasing horsepower (isn't the Redeye only 4 mph faster than a 707?) how about tinkering with aero mods instead?

If you're allowed to use wheel covers, for example, that could be a cheap improvement. Or look into what happens at the rear of the car.

I'm impressed with how fast they are considering the great design, but there might be simple things that could help you go a bit faster yet.

Areo is always a good idea, but not necessarily an easy option. I already remove wipers and splash guards. Considered removing spoiler, side mirrors, taping over the right scoop. Other than the scoop, the rest is a PITA. Adding things like wheel covers or filling the grill, or undercarriage covers is a different can of worms. You begin to deviate from Supercar class, and people will get really pissed if they need to shut down the runway for an hour to pick up pieces over a mile or so when something broke.

Stay tuned, I have an update on intake coming...

Today I gave @DGatzby 's suggestions serious study and consideration and realized a huge erroneous assumption I had made.

Often I look at the HC because it is in the garage and closer/easier to look at than the RE out in the barn. I assumed the air intake was the same, they are NOT!

Behind the lower left grill of the HC is a radiator, just like the lower right and lower center. This will warm the intake air before reaching the air box.

The RE has no such radiator in that location, it only has what looks like a valve body partially obstructing the path. It appears that the RE gets plenty of cool air and my idea of opening the 2nd scoop is not warranted.

Given this, I would only consider maybe opening up the right scoop on the M6. I'll have to give more thought to the RE. Maybe perhaps blocking the grill to the wheel well to increase intake pressure? I have all winter...

Thanks D!!!

Good point/observation on the HC. But they also have an entirely different intake design going with the hood.

The hood changed from double-vented with air over the supercharger (2015-2018) to Airgrabber (2018 Demon) and two-scoop design (2019+ Hellcat/Redeye). As a result, the SRT Power Chiller replaced the small low-temp radiator location and replaced it with a larger low-temp radiator in front of the main radiator. Another benefit was air going up into the airbox was closer to ambient vs pass through small radiator.

Ray is a good resource. Glad to have him here. One important item which would be the extra credit question for you….

It'd be so much easier to lower the car 0.5 or 0.75", and then inflate the tires a tad more.

At least I think lower drag and less rolling resistance would help more than an extra 3.74 hp.

For lowering…I got a set of adjustable KW’s that I’m going to sell, or you can look at an almost new set of Eibach Pro springs that will be removed next week after about 1000 miles.
