Precision castparts corp own special metals corp and is privately traded, they own the rights to most Iconel formulas, was hoping to snatch up some stocks as you drive up prices. ;) Also please be careful with statements like this, FTC doesn't take too kindly to speculative financial assertions... as Elon... meanwhile Ill be over here buying Iconel commodities

little known fact Iconel has a property like aluminum in which it forms an oxide layer, that's what gets attacked instead of the base metal, very cool property and awesome that you got this moving along...

Musk has a controlling financial interest in tesla (and is commonly known for that) and stands to benefit greatly if he uses that status to make statements that could be seen as attempts at market manipulation.

Depending on bulls statements, and position w/in the co (in both senses), he he might not rise to that standard. I never saw what he said so i cannot comment.

His will be better hands down in many ways. My DP rotors get promoted to only street use as soon as I can buy some of these.

If these are made from reverse engineered NHI meta materials I’m in


Proprietary E3D MMC Inconel 625R2 and/or Inconel718, there are subtle pros and cons to each, but both are excellent materials for this application, and are both qualified DMLS materials.

This was the original series of design(s), we are improving from this baseline with this current design...

Please understand, this was from not only from 180mph, BUT also from GVW (and worse yet from a taxi-Charger, and we all know how heavy THOSE are...)

There is a rumor floating around that a HCF.org member got a ride along in the street-test car and (paraphrasing) was impressed with the brake system.

Although to be fair, it was not a full set of CDT rotors. But the brake system (via the ABS) tends to balance any significant rotor bias out by either pulsing early or late depending on which way the bias goes.

390s and the matching rears are first, 400s are an easy and quick 2nd.

We don't have pricing yet, but they are certainly a substantial and premium rotor.

The goal is to be ~1/2 of a set of cf rotors, but 2/3rds might become a reality?

Another hint is that the raw material, depending on supply chain status, is $110-150/kg. More than once over the last year or two, as things were crazy, we were forced to pause as material pricing either inflated beyond reason or was just plain unavailable. :mad:

This pricing is one of our main struggles and focuses, if we can get our preferred suppliers to play ball, we can really bring our pricing back down. They don't seem to care that we are using orders of magnitude more material than most manufacturers. (Most manufacturers are either using grams and making hundreds, or kgs and making a couple of units - we are making thousands at ~20kgs per set)
