Don't think I like my 3.09s

I picked up 1/10 in the 1/4 with the 3.09's.

I think in the 1/2 & 1 mile races the 2.62 is better.
If I could be guaranteed a 1/10 I would do it.
I think you need more than 1/2 to see a difference based from my experience with Red_KittyCat from the old forum.

I had 3.09s and went back to 2.62s. My experience is this, for a daily driven car around town, the 3.09s are a nice seat of the pants boost at part throttle. For full throttle hits on the street, the 3.09s are useless since no street tire can keep up with the additional torque multiplication. At the track, if you have a drag radial that will hook and with enough practice, the 3.09s probably edge out the 2.62s very slightly. In the end, I chose to go back to 2.62s because it was just too dangerous driving the car on the street with 3.09s and street tires after the car has been modified.

I like my 3:09's. They are fun, it is one hell of a hot rod. Last night mindful of attempting to replicate the dump in the 2-3 shift we have been talking about, I was watching my gauges to see what gear I was in. We did a U-Turn (all legal) on a four lane divided with a 65 mph limit, so the turn had some speed. As I came around a bit spirited it was in 3rd, AND the 345's were beginning to howl! Okay, I'll play. Wow, can you say torque? A slow depression on the pedal caused a bit more noise, but they were far from breaking all loose. At this point I DID NOT want a downshift. Sucker went thru 3rd then on and on quickly and bit down well, before merging real well ahead of all traffic coming.:p (Default modes- REWB 345/30 PS4S rears, all the anti-hop mods in the rear you can think of plus still has a hot tank from the track). It will allow some fun, even in default mode if you don't smash the throttle and try to make it look like a Ford.

I also think for drag racing with 3.09 , track prep & traction , the 3.09 takes a lot of pressure off the drive train & axles by moving the weight of these cars off the line.

On the streets I don't drive my car hard enough to be dangerous or get out of control. Just cruising.

Top speed 2.62 for sure.

1/4 mile I have never been convinced that 3.09s are better then the 2.62s. Moparjim has the worlds quickest stock Hellcat and has 2.62s.;) I am actually surprised that not a single Demon owner has tried to swap the 3.09s with 2.62s just to experiment. Imagine if swapping to 2.62s in a Demon made it faster?? Maybe someone will experiment.

LMI, 2.85 upper, 180 degree thermostat, Demon injectors, SC Spacers and Thermo Blanket, HHP 93 Octane tune, Transmission tune, Mid mufflers replaced with Dyno Max Mini Race Bullet Mufflers, DSS one piece driveshaft, Rear Diff Brace and Drag radials. That's about it for performance.
Yep, that pretty much describes "modded". ...lol

No - its because those Jazz Blue cars are fasssst.......

I could be wrong, but the only way 3.09's would would take stress off the drivetrain is if you don't get traction. If you do hook hard with the extra torque multiplication...you should be putting MORE stress on it?? Again, maybe I'm overthinking it...or under...

A lower gear moves weight easier than a high gear.

I Love my 309 Gear always have.
I've read where people had to" reset" their Trans by doing a battery reset so the electronics could understand how you drive now

Linda :)

Man you guys have me second guessing ordering the 3.09‘s in the new RE now. I have a couple of days left to change my mind. Was dead set on it before but now im wondering. It’ll never see the track so I was thinking it would be a hoot around town but now it sounds like even with the WB extra traction a 3.09 RE just shreds tires even from a roll. Might be embarrassing if someone tempts me into a roll race...

The one plus remember that by ordering the 3.09's in the RE is you will be getting the Demon differential with the hardened case and diff gears. If that matters to you. This way you will have the Demon engine and the Demon rear end in your car. For bragging purposes if nothing else 😁

I like the reasoning. Think I was Temporarily Insane too.
Game on.

I went with the 3.09 and I‘m having a blast. No regrets with giving up some top end mph. And regardless of gearing these cars are fun as sh!t!
