So everything was left physically connected and you just lowered the K about an inch?

Hmmm. Interesting.

Did you have to pull the starter?
im not sure if I had to, but I did. I also unbolted the passenger side knock sensor as well as disconnected the steering shaft

Not quite everything.
you need to disconnect the steering shaft to drop it down.

I pulled the starter, disconnected the steering shaft. Also found that removing the oil filter and dropping the steering rack (left connected just dropped it out of the frame) offered much more access for my hands.

I do this on R/T and scat packs fairly often. Did these the same way basically

This pleases me for some reason.

@white1 - now that you have a Hellcat under your belt, what would you charge for another one?

im not quite sure 😂
Judging from quotes I’ve seen others get I’d probably charge $1000
At least until I see how big of a PITA other brands are. These went way smoother than I expected however I did have help with longer skinnier arms than myself, and I don’t believe I’d do them with 6 point bolts

With the right modifications to the engine a good set of headers will definitely help. Remember the boost pressure does nothing to get rid of the exhaust gasses out of the cylinder. Especially when the camshaft has negative overlap and both valves are never open at the same time. You need scavenging to help clear the cylinder .

Exactly just because so and so made 1200 through the stock manifolds doesn’t mean headers won’t help

The camshaft is the one of the most important factors in all this too . .

Yes for sure, but I dont believe the headers will hurt even with the stock cam.

Ill try and get on the dyno again before too long to see what it picked up just from the headers alone

I agree with this . I think most people want the biggest bang for the buck like a pulley . Unfortunately on a stock engine a good set of header will get you about 20-30 Hp and 30-40 ftlbs and for the cost and labour most people opt out .
I'm a big believer in a good set of headers even from stock because they will help from the get go and with any mod you throw at it .

Im trying to keep myself grounded on this build, so I'm trying to stay "bolt on" I have the upper pulley, tune, injectors, e85 and now the headers.
I actually had purchased the headers for my scat pack but was hellcat shopping before the headers arrived, so I held on to them. I got way behind at the shop so hired some help to get me caught up. We got caught up and headers got mentioned. He said "hell, I'll help you knock them out before I leave" so that's what we did haha
I was dreading it so bad had it not been for him they would sit on the shelf another year until I eventually decide to do a cam swap or build this other engine

I wouldn't be surprised if it does pick up on the dyno but would be more interested at the track. I picked up over 40hp on the dyno with headers and a full exhaust system on my '13 mustang. At the track picked up 0. No et or mph. Made no sense

Had it at the track more then once before and after. Just another reason I don't like dyno numbers

I like to see both dyno & track #'s.
Hopefully there's gains on both, but not always.

I do like the sound of exhaust with headers though.

What gains (et or mph) did you get at the track from your headers ?

I won't know 100% because I put a cam shaft in too . Also I haven't had a clean pass yet as I'm having shifting issues . I will need to wait till spring now .

Agreed. Cant tell true isolated benefit if more than one item changed at a time. Hard to do, I know. I did not have patience and went all out in the past and just looked at the combined end result. Always wished I'd done it piece by piece but without owning the dyno simply a dded too long to the build to do it part by part.

Most the time bolt on parts is the combined results that makes the difference.
Would be nice to know results part by part but not feasible to do every time we upgrade or mod.

Unfortunately I'm the type of person that if I'm taking something apart I will see what other new parts I can jam in there while it's apart ....
