I had a guy with a SP tell me on another forum that the 899 filter couldn't withstand the excessive oil pressure of an SRT engine. Wow, does Dodge know about this, because the 899 filter is what they put on my 20HC at the factory?

50 yrs ago I worked @ the Sunoco up the street..I remember when Sunocos premium oil hit a dollar a qt..it came in a fiber can with metal top and bottom..right about the same time Sunoco 260 hit 44.9 a gallon..thought the world was commin to an end...
…and if you didn’t pierce that fiber can just right the oil would drip down to the hot manifold, smoke immediately and get the customers attention. Wrap it up quickly and shut the hood to reduce the amount visible. That was 44 years ago for me at my Shell and Texaco jobs.

I bought many from another member a bit back, but they are from that infamous production run that had the "small" openings in them.

I plan on making a tool to reach in and spread the openings a little bit prior to use.

I called both dealers locally, one of them has 10 in stock…well 7 now. I’ll stop my hoarding there.

FYI for those that like the 041 SRT filter and noticed they have went AWOL lately....I reached out to my nearest dealer over the weekend and here is the answer I received (paraphrasing)...."This part is on national backorder due to Chrysler looking for a new manufacturer. There is no ETA when it will be available. The only stock you will find is individual dealer random inventory and other random inventory from others on eBay, etc." That explains why some opportunists think they are worth $28+ each all of a sudden"

Very true. See it with a lot of things. When a model ends so do the mass production of parts. See it with snowmobiles. Hard to get parts for the older models
