I got "something" 2 weeks ago. 102 fever for about 4 days but no real congestion or anything. I felt like complete ass though and slept about 14 hours a day. I don't go to the doc unless I'm bleeding out my eyeballs and have never taken a covid test so who knows. I have had a lingering cough though. Hope it's not too bad on ya. Whatever I had I certainly don't want again. Don't think I've ever felt so bad.
Sounds like you probably had "it". I had "it" in November starting the 1st, and it hit pretty hard for a week, and then took pretty much to the end of the month before I had all my energy back and the lingering cough and drainage stopped. It felt exactly like the Flu "A" I had diagnosed last spring, just a bit more severe. Thank God I had invested in several early treatment kits for "it" and had them on-hand...it provided immediate relief but I waited a day or two too long before starting because the thought of "it" never even crossed my mind.

Well hiding in the garage has its advantages, both heads off and ready to package to ship to Thitek for a complete rebuild guides and all and porting.

Found my from start up tick tick tick by #2 when cold, I was going to pull the lifter stack there but seeing this confirmed it was an exhaust leak all along. It was hiding in the perfect spot to not be able to see it from above or below. This tube does nothing on the hellcat heads and JBA sent me a new header back then that’s still in the box yet, nothing wrong with this header except this tube needs blocked as it leaked on the header to gasket side not on the head side. I’ll tig a SS plug in there to seal it up.

what's the purpose of the tube - some kind of extra structural support?

It goes to a port on the head that is not machined open on the 6.2 heads but is on the Apache heads from what I remember JBA telling me. It’s only on the passenger side header. I don’t remember 100% if it on the replacement they sent me, it could have been as I remember having to edit like 6-8 weeks on it as it had to be made. At the time I didn’t know it was coming from that tube, I thought it was from the main tube to flange joint.

See the hole there at end of arrow? It’s there but not machined deep enough to go into anything. It’s on the Direct Connection Demon heads I got too.

It has a bolt on each side of it, the head was drilled and tapped for a bolt there but the stock manifold does not use this other bolt hole. There’s 9 bolts on this passenger side header verses 8 on the drivers side and stock manifolds as well. That 9th hole is used to mount the dipstick tube to only on the stock set up.

Looking like you have enough parts to build a few engines?

No, not that much but I wish I had a spare engine, just haven’t ran across a deal on one good enough yet I guess lol. Looking for a RE short block or long block though, if you ever come across one let me know.

I'd probably buy the Redeye myself.

Well here we go again, covid for Christmas 3 years in a F n row :(
Wife’s been sick all week, negative Wednesday positive today :(

View attachment 90892
So far I’m feeling ok. I’ve been Going through all kinds of tests since March on my lungs because of a persistent cough since covid last Christmas with each test and diagnosis leading to another round of tests leading to even a worse diagnoses so hopefully I don’t get it again for time #5. By Specialists orders I got the shot along with 2 different types of pneumonia vaccines over the last 3-4 months so if I lived through it 4 times before with no shot I’m not loosing any sleep over it but it sure has played hell with my lungs and probably be best to not get it again. I guess I’ll just have to go live in the garage for a while :)
Hoping for the best for both of you👍👍

THANK YOU!! All good so far, wife’s symptoms are like a cold, me so far nothing, like I told the wife, see, staying in the garage is best for me lol.
Heads packaged and ready to ship. 30x12x16 78 lbs, each head triple wrapped in card board, then banded together face to face, wrapped again as a whole and then put in a double box made from 150 lb rated cardboard, it could fall off the truck and roll down the highway and not bother the contents. Overkill Mike modded box, settle for nothing less lol.

That will be a heavy box to lift.
We had to ship some stuff out at work and I told him to use 2 boxes. I go get it and he used 1, it was 103 lbs. I took it back and said try again. The fed ex driving may not be able to pick that up

Or they slam it on purpose because it's so heavy. Unless you're using a freight carrier?

1 78 lb box will be cheaper to ship then 2 45 lb boxes. I actually thought it would be heavier. The DC head set was more but it included the rocker assemblies as well and all gaskets etc. There are straps designated for lifting on it, that makes it very easy to lift, if they look at the instructions lol. Same for opening it, follow the instructions and the box and packing can easily be used for return shipping.

Oh yeah. And even freight carriers will beat the crap out of it. Sometimes even when it’s strapped to a pallet. 😳

I would think that it needs a pallet?
